Connect Reddit

Ledion sends conversions to Reddit’s Conversions API (v3). HubSpot doesn’t send conversions to Reddit at all. You give Ledion two things from Reddit Ads: your pixel ID and a conversion access token.

Before you start

  • Ledion installed in HubSpot (Install Ledion).
  • Admin access to the Reddit Ads business that should receive the conversions. Any business admin can create the token.
  • A pixel in that business’s Events Manager.

1. Get the pixel ID and the token

  1. In Reddit Ads, open Events Manager and note your Pixel ID.
  2. Go to Conversions API and click Generate Access Token.
  3. Name it “Ledion”, click Generate, then Copy to Clipboard & Close.

Reddit shows the token once. If you lose it, generate a new one. Reddit describes this token as non-expiring.

Optional, for Send test: open Event Testing and copy the Test ID.

2. Paste it into Ledion

  1. In Ledion, open Connections and add Reddit.
  2. Paste the Pixel ID and the Conversion access token. Add the Test ID under Test ID (optional) if you copied one.
  3. Check Sending to Reddit, the confirmation that Ledion may send Reddit each conversion your workflows send.
  4. Click Connect Reddit. Ledion checks the token and the pixel with Reddit before it saves the connection. The check records no event.

The connection shows your pixel ID rather than the pixel’s name: Reddit’s token doesn’t let Ledion read the name.

Check it worked

  • Send test. On Ledion’s Conversions page, Send test uses your Test ID. The event shows in Reddit’s Event Testing within about 5 seconds.
  • Without a Test ID, Send test skips Reddit. A test sent without one would count as a real conversion. To add one later, click Test settings on the Reddit card in Connections (Test settings).
  • Activity shows each real send as sent, or failed with Reddit’s reason.
  • Reddit’s Events Manager has a Diagnostics view for event problems. After you fix one, it can take up to 24 hours to clear there.

Common problems

  • “That token isn’t valid.” Reddit rejected the token, so Ledion saved nothing. Reddit doesn’t show a token twice, so generate a new one and paste the whole thing.
  • Ledion says “That token can’t send to this pixel”. The token was created in a different business than the one that owns the pixel. Generate it in the business that should receive your conversions.
  • Ledion says “Pixel not found”. Check the pixel ID in Events Manager and paste it again.
  • “Reddit connection needs reconnecting.” Reddit stopped accepting the token. Generate a new one in Events Manager, click Reconnect on the Reddit connection and paste it with the same pixel ID. Then use Retry failed sends in Activity for anything that failed in the meantime and is still under 7 days old.
  • “Ledion can’t access [pixel ID] in Reddit. Check that access is still granted.” The token can’t send to this pixel anymore. Generate a new token in the business that owns the pixel, then add Reddit again in Connections with the same pixel ID and the new token: Ledion updates the connection. Then use Retry failed sends in Activity.
  • “Reddit can’t find ‘[event]’. It may be deleted, paused or renamed in Reddit.” On Reddit this means the pixel is gone, or the pixel ID is wrong: the event in the message is just the event Ledion tried to send. Check the pixel ID in Events Manager.
  • The send shows as Too old (“Too old for Reddit (7-day limit).”). Reddit takes events up to 7 days old. Ledion sends when the step runs, so this happens when the step maps Occurred at to an older date.
  • “Reddit: no click ID, email or phone on the contact.” The step’s reddit output is no_match. Reddit needs the Reddit click ID, an email or a phone. The capture script saves Reddit’s click ID (rdt_cid) through your HubSpot forms.
  • Another tool already sends the same conversions to Reddit. Pick one sender. Reddit warns that sending the same events through its older v2 API and v3 “may cause event double-counting”.

To disconnect, remove the connection on Ledion’s Connections page (Disconnect and uninstall).
